Kanapaha Botanical Gardens

We thought we’d break things up a bit and let you see our latest macro shots from our visit to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville last weekend. If you are interested in large prints or prints on canvas, just email me and I’ll be happy to help with largest size available, canvas/watercolor giclee/print options, and anything else.  Otherwise, we hope you enjoy looking – we certainly enjoyed taking them!

I saw the contrasting colors and even though this little green bug destroyed the flower, I couldn’t resist!

This next one was taken just moments before the caterpillar climbed into his cocoon and sealed it up. Here he’s scoping out the leaves for his final caterpillar meal (about three right next to this were already stripped bare). Love the sticks in his cocoon!!!

The frog below was camped out among very dense flowers, Ryan and his good spotting skills found the little fella. Lucky us! I love both of the following shots for completely different reasons – I adore Ryan’s shot of him (on top) for the composition and depth of field and I love that mine (on the bottom) shows off his shy nature and his hiding spot amongst the flowers.

Below is a purple passion flower. They are just gorgeous flowers and require no care. There are a bunch of other color varieties out there too. How fantastic would it be to have a whole fence laced with these!

I’ll end with the two little love bugs. Hope the photos made you feel all warm and summery inside! If you want to check out all this wonderful plant/animal life for yourself, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens is just a few minutes west of I-75 on Archer Road in Gainesville. They also have AMAZING wedding rental prices and some fantastic ceremony spots!

Flight of the Bumblebee

The wysteria and meyer’s lemon tree are both in bloom and with that comes the motherload of buzzing insects… bumblebees, honey bees, and wasps (no real buzz, but they seem to fit). Enjoy some macros I snuck of some of them!

California Bound

Off to California in exactly one month and thought I’d reminisce a bit with some favorite photos from the 2005 trip.

This next one I never forget and always wish for a redo… but it’s still adored. Hope you enjoy despite the graininess.
