The Push for Waldo

All the time, I’m passing places and I can’t help but think what an amazing location it would be for a photo shoot. It’s so hard to explain how absolutely perfect you think a… say… little run down town most commonly known as a speed trap would be for a location. Or a group of white trees… Often the adventurous, brave folks will try the unknown for a location and, well, others need a little push.

This is my push for Waldo, FL. Yes, it’s a little town that takes less than 10 minutes at 35 mph to drive through. Buildings are abandoned and not well kept. Speeding tickets are more prevalent than anything else. But the charm of bright paint-chipped doors always tugs at me as I drive by. And then there’s the old caboose (or train car??) that serves as the town monument. Suddenly, I’m imagining couples framed by these quirky attributes and I’m photo-shoot-location smitten. Hopefully you are too.

Our first stop is Waldo’s tattered yet vibrant streets.

Next stop is the caboose/train car. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it had a faded heart in the middle of the logo. Now, I’m not usually a fan of hearts but, here, faded and constrasting in nature with the rusty side, the heart feels perfect.

The last shot I’ll blog was taken over by the flea market. There’s this wonderful windmill draped in strands of lights. Oh, if they work, someone’s going to be getting some great night shots taken of them there!waldo-042-copy
